Overview
The Art History programme at The University of New Mexico offers a comprehensive exploration of visual cultures with a particular emphasis on the diverse traditions of the Americas. This Master of Arts degree provides students with the analytical tools and historical knowledge necessary to conduct high-level research in their chosen specialisation.
The curriculum is structured into two primary areas of concentration to ensure both breadth and depth of knowledge. Students can choose to focus on the Art of the Americas, which integrates pre-conquest and post-conquest cultures, or pursue a general concentration that covers a wide range of historical periods and global styles.
The Art of the Americas pathway is particularly distinctive for its integration of architectural studies alongside traditional visual arts.
