History
On Dec. 1, 1906, a delegation of Statesboro representatives traveled to the DeSoto Hilton in Savannah, where they won the bid to establish a school of higher education in Statesboro.
Education
With 141 degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, Georgia Southern has been designated a public Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution and serves 26,054 students from all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico as well as 102 nations. With three vibrant campuses — the Statesboro Campus, the Armstrong Campus in Savannah and the Liberty Campus in Hinesville — Georgia Southern offers an attractive campus environment that encourages learning, discovery and personal growth.
Research
As a Public Impact Research university, we are designing new protocols to reduce musculoskeletal injuries to soldiers and first responders, innovating in logistics technology, exploring food production through sustainable aquaculture, integrating curriculum and professional development into Quality Rated Early Learning Centers.
Our research, scholarship, public engagement, and creative activity is not confined inside an ivory tower. Faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates all engage in research that contributes significantly to the university’s $1.4 billion economic impact on the coastal region and that makes Georgia Southern a leading public-research university in the Southeast.

Lectures are so interesting
The lecturers at Georgia Southern University are just amazing! Every lecture they provide is interesting and educational because of their extensive knowledge and experience. They are constantly available to provide advice and assistance, and they go above and beyond to make sure their pupils achieve. Also, let me to introduce you to the campus! It completely changes the game. The dynamic atmosphere, engaging learning areas, and state-of-the-art facilities provide the ideal setting for both academic and personal development. Georgia Southern University is a close-knit community where students are encouraged to pursue their passions and realize their greatest potential. You will want to experience it!
A highly supportive environment
The University of Georgia Southern is simply amazing! Even outside of classroom hours, the professors there are very helpful and encouraging in addition to having a wealth of knowledge. They go above and above to offer advice and support because they sincerely care about their students' success. They are always available to help, whether it be with inquiries, additional resources, or mentoring. It fosters such a supportive and motivating learning atmosphere. Outside of regular school hours, they are always willing to go above and beyond to assist pupils. Having instructors that genuinely care about their students' progress is wonderful.
Limited Course Selection
I'm a mechanical engineering student at the Savannah camps of Georgia Southern University. I have taken seven courses in total at this moment. I believe this school can be an okay option for you if you're planning to majoring in anything other than engineering. The science and engineering courses available each semester are not a lot, possibly because there just not enough student in these majors. However, some of the professors are very talented and helpful. For example, my math professor who taught me calculus and differential equations are very knowledgeable and organized. I learned a lot in his classes. Some other professors have teaching styles that might not be suitable for most of the students, and are less passionate about the subjects.
