Overview
Through integration of the disciplines of the disciplines of chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and nutrition, students in the Food Science program offered at Pennsylvania State University learn to ensure that consumers can make healthful choices from an abundant supply of affordable, safe, nutritious, and appealing foods.

- Scores from the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) are required for admission.
- Students with a 3.00 junior/senior average (on a 4.00 scale) will be considered for admission to the program.
- Best preparation for graduate work would be the completion of an undergraduate degree in food science, biochemistry, microbiology, or other related areas. The undergraduate program must include calculus, organic chemistry, microbiology, and general physics.
